It’s tough running your own business or going to a stressful job every day. Sometimes it might feel like, with everything going on, that there just isn’t time for the people that you care most about. It is tough, but it’s important to connect with family and friends, and there are ways that your can make that all-important time. By planning ahead, and by making a daily, conscious effort, you can spend time with loved ones.

Meal Times Should Be Kept

When you’re busy, it’s easy to want to accept a sandwich by your desk and continue to work through dinner time. This will not help your relationships with your family. That time that families use to connect with their significant others is important. It tells your children what is really important, and it’s also a good time to understand what is going on in the lives of your children and your spouse.

Make and Keep Dates

When you make specific dates with your friends, and especially your spouse and children, it’s more likely that the time spent will be of a greater quality. We can go months without seeing friends if we don’t make the time to plan specific time for them. It’s also even easier to think that we are spending time with our family because we live with them. Oftentimes, the time that we spend with our children and spouse is not actually quality time. Watching a few minutes of television with your twelve-year-old might be better than nothing, but television doesn’t always foster interaction. It also doesn’t show that you are willing to take time out of your day just for them. Try going out for a meal, even if it’s just in your backyard, away from distractions.

Make 30 Seconds for Hugs and Kisses

It can be really easy to schedule in a couple of moments to let your family know that your care. If it’s packed full of love, even a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek can show your family that you love them. An extra squeeze on the shoulder can show that you care about them and support them. Do that a couple of times a day, and you’ll be amazed at how much those little moments that really don’t take away from your business can add up to something so much more meaningful.

We’re all busy, whether we’re running a business, or we are going to a nine-to-five. Spend a little bit of extra time, and you and your family will be pleased at how much closer you feel.
